The clinical case was presented by Mathias Haarhaus from Stockholm, Sweden, and discussed with Carina Ferreira (Lisbon, Portugal), Renate de Jongh (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and Sandro Mazzaferro (Rome, Italy).

Brief description: Dialysis patients are at exceptionally high  risk of fractures. This risk is even aggravated after a kidney transplantation. This e-seminarium discusses a dialysis patient who was diagnosed with osteoporosis during renal transplantation work-up. The patient experienced a fragility fracture while on the transplant waiting list. While parathyroid hormone, calcium, and phosphate were well controlled, alkaline phosphatase was high, thus, a bone biopsy was performed to guide treatment.

The session was hosted by the European Renal Association as part of their e-seminar series.
